Eight girls abducted in another Boko Haram attack

No fewer than 8 teenage girls between the ages of 12 to 15 have been abducted by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in Warabe village of Gwoza Local government area of Borno state.
The gunmen also carted away foodstuff and livestocks belonging to the villagers before fleeing into the bush.
Gwoza  is  about 160 kilometres from Maiduguri the state capital. The council had witnessed series of attacks by terrorists in recent times.

MTN, Airtel, Glo To Pay N678m In Fines For Poor-Quality Services

Nigerian Communications Commission has imposed N647.5 million (about $4 million) in penalties on Nigerian telecommunications companies MTN, Globacom and Airtel. According to the NCC, they breached key performance indicators and provided poor-quality services to customers.
Furthermore, the NCC has banned the aforementioned mobile operators from selling SIM cards in March, which, in the country with almost 170 million people, could be damaging for the companies' business.

Nokia lunches andriod phones X


Here at Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona, Nokia has surprised everyone by actually releasing the Android-powered Nokia X smartphone. It is available today, in Europe, for €90 (about $120) off-contract. The Nokia X (codenamed Normandy) is a mid-range phone that runs the Finnish phone maker’s own flavor of Android — but, don’t worry, it runs all existing Android apps. It appears Nokia is handling it in almost exactly the same way as Amazon’s Kindle Fire (which also runs Android): Developers will be able to add their Android apps to the Nokia Store — or users can use third-party app store or sideload apps directly.
